Now reading

The evergeen classic in Tamil Literature and an Epic in every sense of the word, Ponniyin Selvan.

There is an english translation of Ponniyin selvan that is now available. Although, it is great that non-tamil people can read and enjoy the book, The thamizh language and the flow used by Dr.Kalki makes the reading a really wonderful experience. It is one of the best researched and extremely well written books I have ever read( That includes the LOTR trilogy).

There is also a rumour that there are attempts to make this into a movie. I strongly feel that some books must be left with one's imagination. I have a mental picture of how Vandiyathevan (The Hero) or Kundavai (Raja Raja Chola's Elder sister) or Nandini (My Favorite) would look like. And I do not want to change that. I have read it twice already and this is the third time. Every time, I start reading it, I feel the same excitement and everytime, I end it, I have the same feeling. Bliss.

Ladies and Gentlemen...Introducing...

The NIKON D50

I am a beginner to SLR photography and found that this camera is a good place to start. I had set my eye on the D200 but got this whole kit for less than half-price of D200's body alone. Someday, in the future, I hope to outgrow the features the D50 provides and would graduate to a D200.
This one comes with an 18-55 and a 55-200 Nikkor lens, besides the usual in-box accesories. Although, I would love to have a 18-70 or a 28-80 just for the simple fact that I would not have to switch lenses most of the time, I don't plan to invest more on lenses for now. Looking for a bag now. Any suggestions?

I am starting with a D-SLR intro course on April 29, taught by my collegue at work. And so it begins .....

SANGEETHA MEGAM....again

There are already two excellent renditions of this song by Anand and BlueByrd. I am joining the party as well. I recorded this song quite sometime back using Audacity. I edited this song again today. No new recordings this week. So here is a re-spin of one of my older recordings.

Pesakoodathu.....

Thanks to Anand and Murali for their Karaokes.

I just picked this song up about an hr back and enjoyed singing it. It is way off from being perfect as I just sang it for the fun of it. Although, IMHO, This song is not the fastest of numbers, I really felt the pace quicken while singing it. It was simply amazing. A must try fo everyone. As usual, This one is a Solo number. Haven't ventured into the duet world yet.

From Log Cabin to White House

This is a famous saying that is associated with Abraham Lincoln's rise from a nobody to the President of United States. This is what Florida did this year. When the year began, The Gators were UNRANKED. Today, they won it ALL.

It's great -- to be -- a Florida Gator.

NCAA Championship

April 3, 2006. 9:21 PM EST. The RCA Dome, Indianapolis.

Florida Vs UCLA.

When it all began this year, Florida was unranked. I did not think I would be writing this even when the NCAA tournament started. And then I saw my team play. It all changed. We are in. 5 down and 1 to go. I wish I were in Gainesville just to look around the town and be a part of the excitement.

Tomorrow, I ll be here in Austin, with my fellow Gators, cheering the Team. And I hope my day ends on the same excitement level as it had begun.

Go Gators!!!
